About This Art Piece: The Artist’s Statement
Oscar was my childhood cat who was in my life since I was born. He would always spark joy to the ordinary moments in everyday life. He lived a long, happy life for 20 years and passed away peacefully in November of 2023.
This art piece captures the essence of his presence, reflecting his sweetness, curiosity, and charm. Through this work, I wanted to keep his memory alive, celebrating his life.
I enjoyed sifting through the art room's collection of art books and magazines to find the right papers to use for my artwork. I looked for the right colours and interesting textures to use. It was fun to incorporate papers that had text or motifs into my collage.
