“Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:30-31)
A swooping and soaring PCA Eagle shout-out is in order for our very own Gr. 2 student, Angelina Chang, who won the top spot in the US Kids Golf Canadian Junior Championship series Tour Championship event on October 24th at Cardinal Lakes Golf Club in Welland!
This summer, Angelina competed in a full schedule of golf tournaments on the CJGA, MJT, SCJGT, and US Kids golf tours. In only her first year of competing in tournaments, Angelina has won 9 tournaments, and placed in the top 3 in 15 events she played in. Most recently, Angelina was competing in the US Kids Golf Canadian Tour as the top-ranked player winning 3 out of the 4 tournaments including the Tour Championship on October 24th. With the win, Angelina also became the US Kids Canadian Junior Champion in her age group (8 and under) as the top-ranked player in the country. In addition to this, she also qualified at the highest level (US Kids Priority Status level 11) for the US Kids World Championships 2022 in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Way to go Angelina!
At school, Angelina is a hard-working and conscientious Gr. 2 student, and her classmates are incredibly proud of her! Angelina has great goals for next year, one of which includes defending her Canadian title on the US Kids Tour. She also looks forward to representing PCA and Canada when she competes at the World Championships in Pinehurst, North Carolina in August 2022.
Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Chang, for sharing this inspiring story with us! Our prayer is that our committed school leaders, teachers, and coaches, along with our new gymnatorium, elevated running track, and exercise room, will altogether be able to better support and motivate aspiring athletes and future Olympians like Angelina!
We are so blessed to “soar on wings like eagles” (Isaiah 40:31) with PCA Eagles like Angelina, and since PCA exists “to prepare the whole person to reach the whole world for Christ“, we pray that they will continue to be a good witness for God as they engage the world with the Gospel! So, Angelina, and fellow PCA students and alumni, always remember to soar and shine, knowing that “you are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).
Finally, always remember that PCA is the Eagles’ Nest – the place you can call home, a place of safety, peace, rest, and support!
Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.
